Skishing the Montauk Blitz
I have seen blitzes in M. many times, but to swim in one is always a thrill! I was lucky enough to have brought my GoPro Hero last weekend to film this blitz, up close, and personal,like...
Just wondering, why did you chose a magdarter with 2 trebles vs a sinlge hook lure like a tin or bucktail when there were blues and your unhooking fish so often? Thanks
I usually try to pick a plug that will catch fish. If you are very observent, you will notice that, indeed, I did start with a bucktail. This jig, however, did not produce the results that I was looking for in order to portray that one cast, one fish aspect to blitz fishin' on film. The mag darter did....
Guys like you make this sport fun because thats what its supposed to be.....FUN. Not like the miserable bastards I meet on the beach every night that take themselves too seriously. Good for you
Hello Paul , I love the idea of skishing and it is too bad that people feel they have the right to disrespect and give you static, I guess the boat guy was upset because if he did acidentally run you over, then legally he WOULD be arrested for some kindof serious charge
but the other surf casters whop intentionally cast a lure at you and. or into you SHOULD be arrested for attempted whatever assholes ok so now to my question, I have been thinking about skishing for ten years now, since I first heard about you but one thing or another and here I am finally ready , so last night I purchsed the force fins form Cabellas , the ones I got however are the other model from yours, they are the ones where the foot goes through a strap here is the question Paul will I be able to use these as well as the other style which I see you use ALso any heads p about the type of screws I should use to create the 'korker ' grip on the rocks thanks again and I really enjoyed that new video, as they say and a video is worth even more ok also I am going to purchase the pinnacle merino elastiprene in 7mm , it was eithe 5 or 7 and I figured 7 would both provife greater warmth as well as boyancy thanks for willing to field my questions you are the man Jeffrey
Jeff, the guy in the boat was not upset at all. I guess the poor sound quality didn't allow you to hear what he said. He was actually a "fan". He also asked me why there were bass floating around.
Yes, you can use any style Force Fin. Some are easier to put on than others. Remember, when you are skishing, less=more.
The screws I use are #10 stainless steel screws of 3/4" length. I pre-drill the holes to 1/6".
Yes, thicker= more floatation. 7mm will be hot in the summer, but not uncomfortable at night.
Melynk- You crazy effin bastard! this is amazing! you're the man!
ReplyDeleteThat's Great! Some of us are visual learners. What kind of camera did you use? I never saw yellow force fins b4. Thanks for posting.
